The boxing gloves above were worn by Joe Louis in the first Louis-Schmeling fight which took place on June 19, 1936 at Yankee Stadium in NYC.
The Louis-Schmeling rematch of June 22, 1938 is considered one of the most significant sports events in American history. Ken Milburn, Broker/Owner of JEM Mortgage™, donated the above gloves to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. in honour of his aunt and uncle, Beulah and Earle A.Cuzzens.
